The third year in a row we organize again the well known New Years Eve Favela Party!
Again the party of the best energy and most astonishing view of Copacabana’s fireworks!!!
Pavão-Pavãozinho community is a safe and since the end of 2009 became a pacified favela in the program of UPP (Pacifying Police Unit) that brought peace to many once dangerous neighborhoods of Rio.
Most of these neighborhoods are in the slopes of hills and the residents have one of the most amazing views over the sea and the city.
The idea of the party started of the dream of Gabriel Abreu and Rodrigo Braz Vieira in giving the opportunity to the people, cariocas and foreigners that were once scared to climb up the hill and go to a favela, to enjoy this amazing view and get big fun in blending with the local people of the neighborhood in a unforgettable party to celebrate the new year that comes.

Some of the reasons to come to our party:
- No doubt the best view of Copacabana fireworks, we’re located at the west end of the neighborhood of Copacabana at a height of aprox. 250 meter, at a perfect angle seeing 100% of all fireworks. Most of beachfront hotels and restaurants don’t have the view we got, and the price for a party ranges from R$500,00 and up!
- Although it might be interesting to be squeezed among 2,5millon people on the beach, it won’t be not that comfy and even hard to find toilets. With us you got all the comfort, seats and toilets available, and all the drinks are included, so no need to look to the nearest bar for buying one.
- Integration with the local community, our party you’ll mix and blend with the local people, not only for gringos.
- Easy to find, there’s a cogwheel train connecting the lower part of the favela to the level where near the party is located. There will be people indicating the way after the last station of the train and after a few steps you’ll be there.

Last year my boyfriend and I, were in Rio de Janeiro to celebrate the new coming year of 2011. “Op oudejaarsavond 2010 heb ik toch wel een van de meest memorabele jaarwisselingen van mijn leven meegemaakt. Natuurlijk spreekt Rio de Janeiro en haar beroemde strand “Copa Cabana” tot de verbeelding. Nog mooier werd de ervaring door oudejaarsavond te vieren op een unieke locatie. Op een bergtop gesitueerd direct aan de Copa Cabana met een prachtig uitzicht op het strand, de stad en de baai. Het was wel even wennen om als blonde Hollander een sloppenwijk in Rio de Janeiro te betreden. Toch waren de mensen aldaar zeer gastvrij en vriendelijk. Catering was goed verzorgd, aan alles was gedacht. Al met al een echte aanrader!!!
At the last night of 2010, I had one of the most memorable new year’s eve ever of my entire life. Of course Rio de Janeiro and Copacabana beach has a worldwide name. Even better and beautiful was the experience of celebrating the new years eve at a unique location. At a hill’s top directly at Copacabana with a amazing view over the beach, the city, the bay. I had to get used the attention as being a big blond dutch guy entering a favela. But the people there were very friendly and hospitable. Catering was well organized and everything was thought to make people at ease.

I’ve passed the night of december 31st at the top of Pavão-Pavãozinho. It was gorgeous, with good aperitif, great caipirinhas, had a breathtaking view of Copacabana! I’ve seen the beach with plenty of people that came to celebrate the arrival of 2011. The fireworks at midnight just went to put an accent to this amazing night. Es war etwas Neues – Unbekanntes, ein kleines “Abendteuer” für Gringo´s in einer Favela, coole Leute, eine geile Party, leckere Häppchen und Caipirinha´s und das Sahnehäuchen war das gigantische Feuerwerk mit einem atemberaubenden Blick über Rio by night! The new years eve of 2010/2011 I had an experience in my life that I will never forget!! It was something new, unknown, a little “adventure” for a Gringo in a favela, nice people, a good party, delicious snacks and caipirinhas. The cherry of the cake was the gigantic fireworks with a breathtaking view over Rio by night! I can just recommend each one of you not missing this new years party! Don’t be worried, overthere is safe and very well organized. Something like this you won’t find anywhere! Just awesome!
